The progress
Hughan has made in his life is inspiring,
and today, I want to share this success with you. We have made decissions along the way that have contributed to Hughan's success. I've made this
program to show you what we did and how we've achieved what we have.
I know the time
you spend with me won’t be a waste... How did I discover the secret to success? It was only
after I sat down and sorted through the mountain
of documentation that we have collected over the course of Hughan’s
life, and
began writing my book on the journey that we have gone through as a
family;
that I stumbled across the secrets of
our success. It’s only after looking back, that I was able to piece together the cause of our success. What I did and how I did it, and how it all led to him being able to talk so well. He’s even going
into situations now, where
people
don’t know that he’s deaf, let alone profoundly deaf.
We're on the right road... One of the main
contributing factors to our success, was
never being satisfied with the medical advice we were given. If that was the
case, our son Hughan
wouldn’t be where he is today, and he wouldn’t be in the
We did everything we could for him as parents and in Africa in 1989... We had to go
through so much more than people have to in this

age. There was no
internet and the techniques we were taught after
we found them, were
pioneering. In fact, we are in the first wave of parents in the world to have a profoundly deaf child who was born deaf, speak as clearly as he speaks today and it’s all due to the techniques that I’m going to share with you in this program.
Up in arms... It may not come as a surprise, that the deaf community as a whole disagrees with this program... I gave a confrence to the deaf community in Cape Town in 1992, when Hughan was 5 years old. It was only after her husband (who had normal hearing) approached me and informed me of his fears... He

that if he had a deaf child, his wife wouldn't allow him
to follow down the path that I was on, even though he believed that what I was doing
was amazing! This
gave me back my confidence, and showed
me that what I was doing was the right thing, it's only
today that I can see the full
extent of my efforts... I wouldn't change anything I did for anyone, and I want to show you that you can achieve the exact same results that I have had.. 2 – Muscle Development
Your deaf child

be used to using the muscles in
his or her mouth properly, that’s why it’s so

that we also develop the
muscles in the tongue and cheeks,
so that their speech becomes clearer. This module,

but vital for building the clarity of speech. It was quite
clear to me, having spent the first part of my
child’s life in Africa and the second part in England; that the support
in England with regard the clarity of speech, wasn't as
good as the support that we were used to in
South
Africa. I want to help
parents who may lack this
support when it comes to
developing
the
muscles and clarity of speech of their child,
and teach them how to do it for them selves. Teaching your deaf child to talk can be very frustrating, but it’s important to make it lots of fun as they will learn to copy your reactions.
